What the letters after F-91W mean, how the classic, WB, WC and WG versions differ, and how to pick the right colour for you.

Casio F-91WC-4 Hot Pink resin watch with white print

Every F-91W is the same watch underneath. They all share the same case shape, the same Casio module 593 and the same features. The letters after the model name tell you how it looks. Here is how to read them.

How to read the model code

Take F-91WC-4A2EF as an example:

  • F-91W is the family.
  • The letter after W (here C) is the style series: none for the classic, B, C or G.
  • The number after the dash is Casio’s colour code. 1 is usually black, 2 blue, 3 green, 4 red or pink, 7 white and 9 yellow or gold.
  • Suffixes like A2, EF or XY are variant and market or packaging codes. F-91W-1 and F-91W-1XY, for example, look the same.

The classic F-91W

The original look: black resin, a coloured frame around the display, gold “F-91W” print and a red WR badge.

  • F-91W-1 (Classic Black): blue frame. This is the one most people picture.
  • F-91W-3 (Deep Forest): dark resin with a green frame.

Choose it if you want the icon exactly as it has looked since 1989.

F-91WG: the gold trim

The F-91WG-9 (Black & Gold) keeps the classic black resin but prints the frame and lettering in gold. It is a little dressier and pairs well with darker clothes.

Choose it if you like the classic but want a warmer, more polished face.

F-91WB: simplified print

The WB series strips the face back to minimal print and drops the coloured frame, so the case, strap and face read as one colour.

  • F-91WB-1 (Stealth Black): the most understated F-91W.
  • F-91WB-2 (Navy Blue): navy from head to strap.
  • F-91WB-7 (Pure White): white all over with soft grey print.

Choose it if you want a cleaner, more modern look.

F-91WC: full colour

The WC series puts the whole watch in bright resin with white print, keeping the classic frame layout.

  • F-91WC-2 (Sky Blue)
  • F-91WC-4A2 (Tangerine)
  • F-91WC-4 (Hot Pink)
  • F-91WC-9 (Sunflower)

Choose it if you want the F-91W to be the loudest thing in the room.
